- the contest is open to ALL youngsters aged 15-19
- to enter the contest, you have to leave an interesting and original comment to any of the posts from Shakespeare School blog

When you fulfil these requirements, you are officially registered as participant in this competition and you can start writing your essay!
Essay topic:
Volunteering can help to make the world a better place to live in. But in a society in which the basic tenet is that Money makes the world go round, what is the meaning of volunteering? Are the people who get involved in volunteering programmes utopians? Do you honestly believe that volunteering brings advantages to both volunteers and the assisted ones?
Write an essay of maximum 500 words, give it a catchy title and offer enough reasons to convince us that volunteering can change our society for the better.
Amaze us with your fresh ideas on volunteering and you may win an amazing summer school in the UK!
The creativity of your ideas expressed is more important than perfect English grammar.

Important notes:
- participation is FREE OF CHARGE
- all submitted essays will receive a Certificate of Participation to our essay competition
- winning essays and other essays of merit will receive an Essay Award Certificate
- all winning essays will be posted on Shakespeare School blog
- English teachers that will have minimum 10 students enrolled to 2010 Shakespeare School Essay Competition will receive a “Certificate of Merit” from Shakespeare School
Guidelines:
- all essays must be written in English
- all essays must be original and unpublished
- word count: 350- maximum 500 words
Judging criteria & Evaluation stages
- Essays will be judged on: task achievement, language accuracy, register & vocabulary, organization & cohesion, originality
- 1st stage: essays will be evaluated by a panel of judges comprising Shakespeare School English teachers, that will announce the best 20 essays on May 20, 2011
- 2nd stage: the 20 finalists will be invited for a short interview, which will take place on Sunday, 29th of May, at Shakespeare School in Bucharest
- the final results will be announced on June 10, at the award ceremony which will be held at Shakespeare School, 11 Dimirie Racovita Street, sector 2, Bucharest
