A day in my father?s shoes, by Mihai Cristian
?I am sorry, I don?t think I can make it in time. Try to understand, I?m doing my best!? ?You?re never here, you don?t care about me! You don?t love me!? I shouted and slammed the door. I went to sleep and I had a dream. Some rays guided me downstairs, where my father was ascending, surrounded by a dim light. A voice told me that if I wanted him back and truly loved him, I had to walk in his shoes for a day, so I became him and he became me. Then, I opened my agenda. I saw that I had 2 conferences, and also, written in capital letters, the concert of my son. I wondered how I was going to get to his concert, but still attending the meetings. I went to work. I couldn?t cancel the appointments, as they were urgent and decisive for our partnership with another big company. After signing some small work contracts, me and the other C.E.O. went to the first meeting, at 11 A.M.. ?I was nervous, because I had to decide the future of the company. On the other hand, I had to get to his concert. The first meeting ended at 1 P.M.. We had lunch and we headed to the next meeting, which was truly exhausting. At 3.30 P.M.? I hurried to my son?s concert. I reached the school at 4 P.M. because of the traffic, and ran to the gate. I was never that tired, and I felt that my mind was backing down. I passed out and woke up in the hospital, and the doctor told me that it was the third time this was happening. He said that, if it weren?t for the love for my son, I would have been dead already. Then I understood how much my father loved me and how many sacrifices he was doing for me. From that day on, I helped my dad much and cheered him up whenever he needed, understood him and always showed him the love and respect that he deserved.
