MY HERO- by Ene Sanziana, 11 years old, student at school no. 79, Bucharest
Heroes…. Everybody loves them, everybody has one. Some kids have “recipes” for their heroes, usually influenced by the movies they watch on TV (for example Superman, Spiderman, Ironman, X-man, etc). These heroes are good looking, brave, charming, yet they wear very unusual clothes: slim trousers and shirt, cloak. They appear whenever somebody is in danger to rescue him/her. Every kid dreams that, one day, he/she will be just like that hero.
These heroes are cool, of course, but only in movies. In fact they do not exist in real life. Personally, I prefer a real hero. And I do have one: my hero is my mother. She doesn’t have supernatural power but she has more than that: she has intelligence, kindness, courage, perseverance, hope, ambition. And most importantly, she has a lot of love to give. It is true, she is extremely talkative (poor dad!) but this is an advantage for her job, as she works as a broker and she has to talk to clients a lot.
Once I was with her at her office and I was terrified by her work: she was answering the phone, sending emails, reading emails, calling customers and so on. I don’t understand how she can do all that: especially because her workday does not end when she leaves office. When she comes back home, she cooks, does the washing-up, cleans the house and the garden and, unfortunately, checks my homework. I can’t understand how she finds the necessary time to do all those things in a single day!
I can say she is just like a fortune teller, in some way: she gives me important advice and every time I did not listen to her advice, things went bad. Very strange, isn’t it?
I wonder how she was when she was a child. She pretends she was an ordinary child, but I really doubt it. She is too gorgeous! She must have always been awesome!
I’m sure one day I will be a hero myself for my kids, as I learnt from the best, I learnt from you, MOM!
