I can`t look in a crystal globe and see my perfect world, just as I want it to be. I can`t open up the window of my soul to look for it in the sky…
Crystal globes aren`t enough. Open windows won`t do it. They`re not realistic enough, they are not what I want them to be, what I want them to show me… I can only dream about it.
About him.
I`m five years old, it`s getting cold… I`ve got my big coat on. I hear his laugh and look up smiling at him, I run and run past the pumpkin patch and the tractor rides to reach him… I hug his legs and fall asleep on the way home.
I’m thirteen now and I don’t know how my friends could be so mean… I come home crying and he holds me tight and grabs the keys… we keep driving until we find a town far enough and we talk till I forget all their names.
I remember him talking to me whenever I cried, whenever I was upset, whenever I needed someone to tell me everything was going to be fine, whenever I was confused about something… he would talk to me, he would make everything crystal clear. He would make me feel that I was a kitten that, whenever she looked in a mirror, she saw a lion. Not scared… but brave. Not fearful… but fearless.
I remember how children used to talk to me about how they went with their dads somewhere, about what they did… I remember them saying: “My dad and I played basketball today. It`s so much fun! Do you ever play sports with your dad?”
I could never say “Yes”. I just smiled.
I wish I had a stick. A magic one. One that could cure him, one that could make him healthy again…
Even though he`s been through a lot of things, I love him and I know he`ll always be there for me. HE means the world to me. A perfect world.
Acest eseu este castigatorul premiului I in cadrul 2011 Shakespeare School Essay Competition, grupa de varsta 11-14 ani, avand ca tema o descriere a unei lumi perfecte pornind de la 4 imagini sugestive. Premiul a constat intr-o scoala de vara de limba engleza de 2 saptamani (10-24 iulie 2011) in Anglia la St.Michaels College, Tenbury Wells- “English in the Heart of England“, un cadou surpriza din partea librariei Carturesti, carti si rucsac Cambridge University Press, oferit de Fischer International, un card de reducere oferit de Puma si un cadou din partea Reprezentantei Comisiei Europene in Romania. Dorim sa o felicitam pe Andrada pentru faptul ca s-a evidentiat din peste 5100 de eseuri trimise la concursul national de creatie in limba engleza organizat de Shakespeare School si ii uram mult succes in continuare!
